Recipe: Piggies in a Blanket

I never got off the phone today and by 7pm, I was whipped like whipped cream, but no sweet goodness at the end. The very thought of any further effort as I stumbled out of my room office was more than I could take. Julian was glued to the TV with his laptop on his lap (how appropriate) watching political fury in New Hampshire and the kids were starting to hunt for snacks since it was way past the time that any respectable parent would have fed them. If they could tell time - they would have walked into my office with that, “I mean SEERYOUSLY” look on their faces. I was left to see what I could scavenge from our coffers to stop that rumbly in my tumbly.

After peering into the fridge/pantry and hoping to magically conjure some perfectly prepared Spicy Tuna Rolls or pipping hot macaroni and cheese Panang Curry - I spied my solution: Hot Dogs, a can of Crescent rolls from Christmas, and a 1/3 of a bag of shredded cheddar cheese. SCORE. Seeryously Gude Pigs in a Blanket. Thank goodness the piggies from Episode 1 | Segment 2 were not around.

I am guessing that you don’t need the recipe.

Seeryously Gude Cooking | Pigs in a blanket

The Outtakes

Once the piggies and their crescent roll blankets had baked to a golden brown, I covered them with the rest of the bag of shredded cheese and some parsley for presentation purposes. I placed them under the broiler to melt the cheese and then walked into the living room to break up a toddler fight. A good 3-4 minutes went by before dread washed over me. I sprinted back into the kitchen and…my little piggies were black and crispy on top. *SIGH* I mean SEERYOUSLY??

The Solution - Since the crescent rolls are flaky, I carefully removed the burnt layers and threw on a little additional cheese as a band-aid.

I hope you all have a good night and the candidate of your choice does well in New Hampshire. POUR THE WINE.

  1. Yankeewombat was snuffling around and found a cookbook for Wombats today. With things like PAVLOVA and LAMINGTONS and other Wombat goodies. Nice fix on the pigs.

  2. I do declare that those little pigies were par excellence.
